LED lighting has turned into one of the most widely used forms of alternative energy savers in the United States. One of the main reasons is due to their long-lasting effect - lasting more than 10 times longer than normal florescent light bulbs and far longer than a typical incandescent light bulbs. LED light bulbs use only 2-17 watts of electricity. LED bulbs used in fixtures inside the home save electricity, remain cool and save money on replacement costs since the bulbs last so long. |  |
Today's major appliances don't hog energy the way older models do because they must meet minimum federal energy efficiency standards. If your washing machine or refrigerator is more than 12 years old, then they are using way more energy than they need to. Of course, efficient appliances don't just save you money; they're good for the environment. The less energy we all use, the lower our demand on power plants, which means less pollution. Replace old appliances with new ones marked with the Energy Star® label. Don't buy oversized appliances, and only run certain ones when need be - don't use dishwashers or washing machines unless they are completely full.
